I work in a Prep school in the next town along, we have gained some pupils from South Farnham in recent years around Yr 5/6, mainly because their parents wanted them to have a school diet that is not just focussed on SATs. Our children get a full curriculum and also lots of other opportunities that they may not get in a state school.

Heard great things, its one of the best primaries in the country. Lots of year 6s get places in the top Guildford private schools like RGS, GHS, Tormead etc.

Thanks for responding!! Interesting replies. Dh is very keen as our ds is very much ahead. I am kind of hesitating as I am worried he will not be experiencing a typical childhood. Don't know if that makes sense. I just don't want him doing all work, and nothing more. Although I know he will cope fine. Hmm - have to think a little more : ))

What would you like to know?

Just wanted to ask a few questions. No problem if you would rather not. I understand.

Just to confirm, I did make the request for my earlier post to be deleted by the mods.

As soon as it went live, in addition to some obviously genuine questions from other concerned parents, there was some "weird" stuff happen which made me feel very uncomfortable. Without going into detail, it seemed like our fears of repercussions, as referenced in the original posting, were going to come to pass and as a family we decided we wanted to look forward rather than back.

That said, the mere act of typing the response - which in summary said to the OP "don't even THINK about SFS for your child, if they are in any way an individual, and you or they won't fit the "SatsFarm" and "put up and shut up" culture" - was incredibly therapeutic, so I'm glad I shared it, and there were clearly other MN members for whom it struck chilling chords.

It's been a while since we removed our last child from the school. We finally joined the dots over many years, and realised that the reaction to each and every issue raised with them was a comprehensive and utterly consistent stonewall, regardless of the subject matter. Even so, I was surprised how raw the feelings still were when typing. That might be why it possibly hit a nerve with "TPTB." Those of you unfortunate enough to have experienced the establishment at its worst may know what I mean.

For anyone who missed the post pre-deletion, and who is interested in discussing it offline, please let me know and we can do that in a safer environment.

The things I mentioned in my post appear to be still happening - possibly even getting worse - and that surely has to be a problem. If you're concerned, and thinking "is it just me, and am I mad?" be assured a) it's not, and b) no you're (probably!) not. It's just what you're intended to think, and it's why any dissent is firmly discouraged and airbrushed out.

There are many ways that happens, and most of them you won't appreciate - unless you send your son or daughter there and experience them first hand. For a "no pain" proxy though, check out the complaints (sorry, "Concerns") procedure; it's not exactly advertised, so to save you the hassle of searching the entire website here's the link www.south-farnham.surrey.sch.uk/page/?title=Concerns&pid=112

I will leave you to draw your own conclusions. Discuss!!!

Take care and happy parenting. And most importantly, all of our family wish all of yours a great Summer.

B

Very sorry, apparently my tablet knows what I want to say better than I do, as previous mistakes, and my even bigger one for not checking it before I press send at 5.30am, with no alcohol while typing either !!
