Just wondered if anyone can help : ). Does anyone know of any great schools and large villages/towns around the New Forest area of Ringwood leading up to Salisbury? We are looking for a more modern, larger primary school which is very academic. Any schools/villages come to mind? Thank you!!!!!

I now live in Bournemouth but am originally from Salisbury. There are some nice villages around Verwood is nice as is New Milton. These are more the Bournemouth/Ringwwod side and verging more on the Salisbury side you have Downton which I know has a good primary school and you also have Breamore, Woodgreen and Fordingbridge which are all nice and have relatively good schools. Why do you need a very academic primary school?

And villages in the New Forest National Park, by definition, will not have "modern, larger" schools.

I guess you are assuming that your child will get into the Salisbury Grammars
BUT as all of the state schools round here are above average nationally, you can relax.

Private schools - be careful : Norman Court closed almost without warning last summer ....

Second what Talkin said, most schools in the New Forest will have a 'village' feel about them.

The larger area of Fordingbridge will have more modern schools, ie not so traditional l yo

Oops. iPhone!

....traditional in looks. Ring wood is also good. You are lucky that all the schools are good schools, although may not be outstanding, the catchment population makes them usually high achieving.

Wish I was going back.
