Primary school in Stevenage

Any help I would apriciated. I went through all Ofsted and herts county council website, but I need to hear any advice from Stevenage mums.

I went to Lodge Farm it was great! Plus I now have a friend whose daughter goes there and is really really happy with it. Plus feeds into Nobel which is a good secondary school.

Hi there, I just came across this post and would love to have others share their insight on the same subject please (or PM me!) Or other suggestions of good primaries and secondaries in Stevenage and surrounding areas, such as Welwyn, Hitchin etc. There are lots of info on the Internet on the private schools in the area but I would really like to know about the good state schools as well..., would really like to avoid forking out all the dosh if I can!!! Thanks all!

Hmm it's hard there are some ok school but none I would say are excellent.
In WGC the best school is applecroft and templewood.
I wouldn't personally recommend any Stevenage secondary school

That's what I feared...primary school scene just as bad in your opinion?

There aren't many great ones around. The best ones I know of are lodge farm, shephall green, and one in old town who's name I forget

Thanks! Seems like I should be looking in WGC, which I do like very much for shopping etc, am just not very familiar with the schools there. Will check it out though. Thanks for the info on PM by the way. I have heard of that school and the website is great. Will need to plan the finances however, if the DC (of which I have 3), are all to go private and be at day school as opposed to boarding. I'd have to buy a house there and WGC is typically much more expensive - for all the right reasons!

Re the Hertford schools.. Primaries, there are the following
Hollybush (which we are at)
Morgans
Mill Mead
St Andrews (only one I wouldn't go to)
Bengeo
Wheatcroft
Abel Smith
Hertingfordbury Cowper
And just down the road, Hertford Heath

Secondaries
Sele Mixed (just applied for although some people are a bit snobby about it)
Simon Balle mixed
Richard Hale boys
Presdales girls (actually in Ware but a lot of people from Hertford go there.

Can't go wrong in Hertford really, great to live there too.

I went to Bedwell JMI (as was) and I turned out fine . That was, however about 30 years ago so it might have gone downhill since then!

I went on to Nobel and that was good too.

This is of no use to you of course but couldn't pass the thread without comment. Hope you have managed to mine more up to date info.
