I've just ordered my (sew in) from Cash's, it's free delivery and I'm sure I saw they did other kinds. They have cute logos now that can be sewn on next to the name. I got mine in red with a red dragon!

I'm a big fan of Name it Labels. Reasonably quick service and a great product. Having just tried to peel off some iron-on labels from DD's outgrown school uniform I can confirm they definitely do stick on well! I usually go for the combo pack with sticky labels and shoe labelss too.

Easy2Name have always served us well, arrive in a couple of days, they've got all sorts of different types, sticky labels, bag tags etc too, plus they will give a cut of the money to your local school / pre-school, you just select the school at checkout. The iron on ones do stick on pretty well, although the edges can be a bit hard and scratchy, I use sew on ones if I think it's going to rub the skin.

I prefer name stamps.More expensive but much quicker.I got mine from NameTags4U.Made with laundry ink so they won't wash off.

Easy2name. A collection of iron on, transfers, buttons and sew in. Oh and stickers for not-clothes.

I have a Brother p-touch labelmaker and use their fabric iron on tapes for school clothes. Nobody believes me but they DO NOT EVER COME OFF and they are very smart and readable. Thing is, you can label all kinds of other things too once you have one of these (saddo Grin)

I second easy2name. Use MN code at link for 10% discount.

I got the sticker packs in the fantasy design (fairies etc) suitable for clothing, shoes, bags etc. Not cheap, but excellent service, robust stickers (they're not coming off!) and I have loads left over that'll likely do for next year.

Attach a tag, bit pricy but go on really easily and no sewing. I get them from ebay

Definitely easy2name. Get the iron on fabric tapes, not scratchy at all.

They do a package of iron ons and stickers, which are brilliant for drink cups/bags etc. I have used them on pencils this year - hope they stay on!

Delivery really quick and never had a problem with them coming off. In fact I have been trying to get them off some old items, to pass onto the school second hand shop and it's proving difficult!

I got mine from My Nametgas too, after being recommended them by a friend. They don't offer as wide a range as easy2name but I just needed the basic pack (some iron on, some stick on ones). Really good value for money IMO Smile

I got my labels from the shop that sells her uniform. Reasonably priced iron-on ones and they have lasted very well :)

Cash's sew ons.

I have rugs from both my parents from their university days, with 55 year old Cash's nametapes on, as clear as the day they were sewn on. My own, fron 30 odd years ago, are also still as good as new on the various items that I still have from those days.

Sewing on name tapes is one of those 'good mum' rituals that i really enjoy [sad emoticon]!

These stamptastic.co.uk/ (not advertising, promise )- Got them when they were on special offer for both my girls. Even the one on dds swimming hat hasn't come off and she's swum hundreds of times in it. Names shoes, bags, umbrellas, clothes, lunchboxes....And it's incredibly satisfying to do. Smell of the ink makes you a bit high when you do it, but I reckon that only adds to the fun...

Easy2name - there is usually a discount code for Mumsnetters. They also have good labels for shoes/water bottles which don't come off.

I use SimplyStuck for stickers and shoe labels and Cash's for sew-in and mostly a biro or Sharpie pen for last-minute scrawling onto garment labels.

Stikins from //www.name-labels.com. sticky labels for clothes as well as non clothes. No sewing, no ironing. Just stick them on. I tend to stick them on the brand or washing label, but they are smooth so don't itch or rub. Truly brilliant.

For those who do like the sew-ons, there are various suppliers on eBay who are equal in quality to Cash's but a fraction of the price (they also do pink).

I'm another sad person who considers sewing in tapes a ritual - memories of naming every individual sock when at boarding school....

I find the sew on ones are a bother and the iron on ones eventually start peeling off (plus I have to get the iron out and dust it off).
I now use these:-
www.nametag-it.co.uk/shop.php?id=6&f=products
There is a plastic stud that you fix the label on with. V quick, stays on and I can label a new tie etc. in the school office as I purchase it so it can be worn straight away.
