Primary education

Need some advice....

This is all a bit premature maybe (?) but would be interested to see what others thoughts/experiences were.

DD is just coming up for two and I have just started thinking about primary schools etc...When we bought our house children were a far away prospect and sadly we did not have the foresight to think ahead and move to the catchment area of a decent school. The one closest to us is ok (3 overall in Ofsted report) and the outstanding one is outside our catchment area, oversubscribed, and it is unlikely we would get a place. There is a CoE school which is very good (but very small) again outside our catchment area however I am a regular church goer at our local church and have been since we got DD christened - I tend to go twice a month as we usually visit family the other weekends and I would like her to have a faith-based education as that is what I had. Is it completely unrealistic that I would have a chance of getting into the CoE school, would I need to go to the church that is attached to the school and plead my case? Any advice would be appreciated.

Have also posted in religion!

With our local CofE school the guidance for places is based on the parent attending the CofE church local to the school. There are 2 schools in the parish and only one is named in the school guidance criteria. So you might find you have to change churches to get into the CofE school.
Our local CofE secondary school is incredibly oversubscribed and people who go to non CofE churches don't have a hope of getting in.

I will take a look - I tried to look on council website but I could not see those details (only lists applications, appeals, siblings and applicants taken from outside the area - in this case about 4 I think out of an intake of 15). The school itself does not seem to have a website - the church I attend is a CoE so that isnt a problem. I am thinking about going along to the toddler group at that church to gte a feel for place and maybe a good starting point to ask some questions. Thanks for the responses.
