Hi,

I'm looking into Cannon Lane as a potential school for my daughter. I'd love to hear from people who have (or have had) children in this school -- particularly about the teaching and pastoral care. Thanks!

This is the Cannon Lane First and Middle School in Pinner, Middlesex. The school has good academic results but I'd like to hear more about parents/children's experiences. I visited the school recently but am still ambivalent about it. It's the closest school in our area so will probably be our assigned school. Thanks!

I went to Longfield, but that was 20 odd years ago, and I hated it.

Cannon Lane was supposed to be better then, I think, and my friends who went there seemed to enjoy school.

Thanks! Spoke to some parents whose children go there...they seem happy. I'd suggest visiting the school. Was a little dismayed by the building, but the head teachers seem nice. I have heard mixed reviews about the teachers though...so we have to hope our children end up in the nicer classrooms.

I have 3 girls, 2 have now left Longfield and the youngest is still there in Yr1. I have been very happy with the school and in fact when we moved to Pinner I decided to enrol my youngest there instead of West Lodge. I find the teachers approachable, the parents friendly but not clicky or over powering. There is an active parents association ( I am on the committee and would welcome you with open arms!). My girls have made excellent progress and made a smooth transition to high school. If ever I have had an issue or problem it has been dealt with promptly. There is a breakfast and afterschool care. I cannot fault it really, ok there are a few niggles about school run chaos and crowded pathways at drop off and pick up time but hey all schools have these issues. Unfortunately people see Longfield as the poor choice against other local schools but I don't see why that is the case, having been a parent there for 9yrs. Ofsted and results are very good too.
Let me know if you want any more info.
