Trying to visit but just wondered if it's as good as it looks on paper? We might be moving up the road. Any experience of it? What secondaries does it feed?

It sounds lovely, everyone I know there is delighted. Secondaries a problem in that area - not near any, really - there isn't a feeder system. You might get Clapton Girls, probably not Mossbourne and not Stoke Newington - have a look at the maps on the Learning Trust website to see where this years' entrants came from.

thank you, that's useful to know about secondary schools. sigh - it's impossible to get everything sorted however hard you try...

Secondary schools are pretty bad in that area and surrounding areas, I'm afraid, and I don't say that as a snotty 'nothing is good enough for my little angel' way - some of them are truly awful.

hmm, looks like house would be right on edge for SNS. there's an unsuccessful closer, a successful about the same distance but probably a sibling.

so what do people round there do???

house would have got mossbourne this year but you can't be sure as they do'nt differentiate for siblings. we're a way away from all that anyway but quite frankly don't fancy moving again after all this palaver...

People with money in N16 are either send their children to private schools, or else get their kids in to grammar... or move. Seriously. Used to live in Stokie and there was a mass exodus once kids were about 9 or 10 years old, and several neighbours went mental getting their kids to sit exams for scholarships to City of London, St paul's etc. Was an eye opener!

Otherwise, they send their kids to the local schools. Stoke Newington school isnt bad. Good pastoral care and decent results. But I couldnt hand on heart recommend any other secondary in that area...

Barnet - I live there. Its a dull arse area compared to Stokie, though Grin

I didnt move there for the schools, to be honest, there were other reasons, but we lucked out with secondary schools. Most are pretty good.

Totally understand. I grew up in Harlesden and thought Stokie was posh Grin. Barnet has been a complete culture shock!

Skinners? is that near there?
after extensive survey of london and home counties I have concluded you have to settle for a. wobbly schools and urban grit or b.dullsville with good schools. Have settled for a, but it remains to see if I feel the same by secondary.

where are you trifling? are you in hackney? we've got a great primary school in camden, but not great house. hoping jubilee cd be a match for the school and give us the house. wouldn't it be marvellous if skinners turned out to be a winner.

Hope they have turned Skinners around since they built the new building. It was one of the worst schools in Hackney a few years ago

Results look ok this year (81% A-C GCSES, 48% incl Engl and Maths - interesting disparity!). Are you not near Camden girls then? I'd stick with the Camden options tbh rather than move to Hackney. Bad schools are more stressful than bad houses.

we're just out of catchment for camden girls. we could move into catchment if we mortaged selves to hilt but i'm scared of doing that, plus what about ds.
tempted by big house in hackney and jubilee, but secondary school long way off for us so things could change, but maybe i should be thinking ahead more.

My DD started this year reception. Things have changed considerably at this school. All my neighbours kids went there, and it was praised as being very very community based. Now it's like a black box of communication with zero involvement with parents. It's definitely not outstanding anymore. Stay where you are,
