Can I ask teachers/ education staff what they think was the 'driver' in the every child matters paper.

I have to look at factors that have changed the way the 'organisation' works in the last 3-10 years. I have to carry out a STEEPLE anaylsis which is basically look at whether the driver is social/technologigal/economic/environmental/political/legal and ethical.

I have said it was political but also social as it was to ensure the LA took more accountability for the outcomes for all children. That it ensures that the 'whole' child is looked at and not just the educational side within school. It helps with early intervention where there are concerns. I have mentioned technological advances meant that citizens often had access to and could discuss cases where children have been failed - abuse/neglect cases and also call for someone to be held accountable.

Organisation (schools) responded to the change by adopting policies such as 'healthy schools' and also in the case of my special school ensuring a closer relationship with other agencies. Multi agnecy meetings for children 'at risk' or with extra need and within my school that has meant GP's, peads. OT's etc actually come into the school and liase with teachers and parents to ensure all needs are identitifed and met.

How did anyone feel about these changes? It would be helpful to know how people feel it affected them personally - if it did!

Does this sound right - if not HELP please Grin

By driver do you mean why did it come about? I'm pretty sure the Victoria Climbié case was largely responsible for ECM.

Hmm

Is your project to canvass opinion on the internet, or are you hoping that you can copy and paste peoples thoughts into your own file, and let them "do your homework"?

jueny - yes that was what I thought. It was to ensure that everyone took responsibilty for a child together instead of accountibility being passed around. Early intervention to improve the outcomes for all childen.

Quint - hardly. I have said what my ideas are and what I have written but would be interested in others opinions. I have spoken to people at my school, teacher friends and also teacher family. I have managed to do the whole of my OU degree so far on my own whilst raising a child and working FT. So climb back into your box if you don't wish to answer the question but don't come here making accusations and assumptions that are negative and untrue.

YAK, I think that Quint is saying that research has to be paid-for, but as you are a reg, I dunno tbh

I'm not researching I'm just asking a question. I have done what I'm meant which is discuss it with collegues but just asked here what others opinions were.

I didn't ask for accusations that I am trying to get others to write my assignment. I find that offensive and quite accusational that I don't work hard for my own degree. And yes I was rude back but so would anyone who was accused of 'getting others to do their homework'.

Forget it - it was 750 words - part of a 5000 word assignment but I'll stick with the discussions I've had with collegues.

Climbie - Laming Report - ECM - Children Act 2004 (last two overlap). The big push was for multi-agency working IMO.

What's wrong with asking for input?

If you are prepared to contribute do so. If not, don't. No need to throw accusations around surely.

Thanks Sue and Owlelf. Well all finished and sent now and I had a lovely PM from someone about their experience of the failures of MA meetings.

All I wanted was some other perspectives to compare to the ones I had as I work special ed school so the ECM has had a huge impact on us and wondered how it compared to mainstream.

All I need now is to know I've passed Grin
