Any knowledge on these London based schools?

As a mentioned, I will be too late to apply for schools in our catchment, wherever that may be. So, I need a few back up privates (and a winning lottery ticket). I will have a Y1 and a 3 year old in Sept 2012. However, any other schools you could recommend for either daughter would be great too.

  1. Streatham and Clapham HS

  2. St. Nicholas Prepartory School

    Thanks for any input.

Both are great however what is good about S and C high is that she can stay until 18 and the headmaster that is going there in January is the deputy head at my daughter's current school. Quite pompous but he is very well put together and I believe he will bring the results up and be a positive addition to the school!

Are you choosing the school first and then your housing?
I only ask as they're not near each other

Unfortunately, wherever these girls get into school is where I will have to look for a place. We will be renting the first year or so. I wish I could go to a nice catchment area, register for a state school and be done with it, like we do here, but I know that's dreaming.

I also know that all the schools which are top good schools guide schools are really difficult to get in to. I applied to a couple, but need to remember that the application and admission fees are just going to pile up.

100lilGreen- Is your daughter's school a private or state school? Do you think he had good results there? How pompous is pompous...like you don't want to deal with the man?

you will have a better chance though as you are going for Y1 & Y3 places
Have you looked at Hill House? or do you want all girls?

if you go close enough to a state school you will probably get in
most places prioritise distance then siblings so you only need to get one child in

My daughter's school is a mixed independent and well there is just something about him that is not 'human'. He's not lively or outgoing just rather VERY well spoken , rather camp and just abit odd. However I do think he will get good results. Just abit of a strange character. The school she is at now is selective but incredibly academic but still produces good results .. He just does't seem to have had much to do with the kids while being deputy head .. Don't let that put you off STCS .. just maybe St nicholas would be good because it just seems abit more lively and then after that get in somewhere like SPGS, G and L if she is very academic, would just give more possibilities

Only heard of St Nicholas prep. I heard good things about it but when i checked their exit results i wasn't too impressed. this profile of the school has all the info you need:

i would also check out Hill House as others suggested! Much better exit results than St Nicholas.
