DS reads out loud the whole book. He gets to read to himself with his own books. He still needs correcting occasionally and reading out loud is a whole different experience IMO. To show the teacher his understanding of the book he needs to read aloud to her and explain about the book verbally, so we do this too. If I do not hear the story I can not discuss it with him.

2 or 3 nights usually. We also read to him (Harry Potter at the moment ) and like I said he has his own books he can read to himself if he wants.

We are doing tree tops, usually one book spread over the week with 1- 2 chapters per night. I have DD read it to me so I can encourage her expression plus check she is managing each and every word. Plus it gives me the opportunity to question her and pull out her comprehension.
