I used to give my general view of his progress in the class. So I usually said I was delighted with how much progress he had made, how well he had settled into the class, how well the teaching staff had done in their role. That sort of thing. Oh and whether I felt comments in the report reflected my child's ability, which I always seemed to.

All positive, but if I had felt that any concerns I had riased during the year had not been tackled by the teaching staff I probably would have made reference to that in the report too.

Very pleased with my sons report!
He has made such great progress, resulting in excellent sats results and a superb report.
He is achieving his dreams and I/we could not be so proud.
Many thanks to the teaching/support staff for being dedicated and committed at each and every child's needs and learning journey

I don't think too hard and just say what I'm thinking. They often put us on the spot and we have to write it AT parents evening anyway, so there isn't time to think much.

Sometimes it's just a big thankyou. Sometimes a thankyou and comments on what DC have particularly enjoyed or struggled with. If we've had a parents evening and action has been agreed or we've talked a lot about something that isn't on the report, I would jot that down too e.g. we will make more effort to talk about what DC is reading at home; will talk to DC about making more effort in Mandarin and catch up with Mrs S about this in x weeks; DC has been finding the Philosophy topic very challenging and is looking forward to moving on to Rocket Science.
