We got DS a suit from here. Well, originally he wanted it to dress up as Doctor Who to go to the Experience exhibition, but he's got a couple of formal wears out of it too Grin

I once got a lovely linen suit from John Lewis (in the sale) and Monsoon sometimes have nice suits (with nehru collared jackets). Worth a try?

clean ( new ) school trews, shirt maybe a waistcoat. School shoes polished up.

Jobs done, boy looks smart but is not uncomfy and all clothes can be washed after they spill dinner down them. I might be tempted to have a 2nd clean shirt on standby in the car just in case.
If its VERY hot shorts or school shorts would be acceptable on a 6 yr old.

Last year my 6yo wore smart-ish linen trousers (Next) a lightweight button up shirt and 'converse' type shoes from H&M. He was six, he ran about at the reception do and got mucky with dirt from the floor and food and I'm glad I hadn't spent a small fortune on his clothes. The page boys at the wedding were in shorts and linen shirts too, quite by coincidence. They looked like smart little kids having a nice day out.

When my DTSs were 5 they wore long linen shorts and linen shirts to their sister's christening - they looked fab!

A few years ago DS wore some beige linen long shorts, white linen shirt with a grandad collar, a Monsoon tank-top and dark brown suede sandals (the sports style with velcro tabs type).

He looked smart but, more importantly, was comfortable. He also had lots of positive comments.

My 6 year old wore to DB wedding - Dark jeans (next), light blue shirt (junior j via ebay), stripey blue tank top (next via ebay), black school shoes.

If it hadn't have been my brother wedding, I might have not gone for the jeans (DB and DSIL really wouldn't worry about such things), but he looked just as smart as other kids in linen trousers which I'd have had to buy new.

He looked really smart, and was quite comfortable for running around.

We went to several weddings when ds was 4/5/6/7.

We dressed him in linen shorts and lovely linen shirts from Fat Face or Gap.

DS is being an usher at my nephew's wedding this summer - we thought about getting him an outfit, or a kilt. but in the end he's going to wear his school uniform, and he's fine with that.

Vertbaudet sometimes do nice linen stuff much cheaper than Monsoon, I haven't checked this year. Go for a shirt with a grandad collar, looks lovely!

I'm with UniS. Went to niece's smart wedding 2 weeks ago. 7 yr old son wore (new) charcoal school trousers - now wearing for school; smart white shirt - ditto school; lovely purple slipover and polished school shoes. He looked super smart, he was comfortable, it will all be worn again and it didn't cost much. High street "Wedding ranges" for children are mainly awful and linen on boys who like to play looks pants in about ten minutes. Have fun at the wedding

We are in the same situation. I have a pair of chino shorts and a shirt I thought would look smart but struggling to find shoes. He only has black school shoes, trainers, crocs or wellies!!! Any suggestions?
