Hi - posting this in Forces Sweethearts too but I have a friend moving to aldershot and she doesn't anyone down there to advise her which schools are good. Primary schools that is.

Anyone recommend a good one - she'll be living in officers quarters (not sure where) at Aldershot.

Thanks in advance.

I think living in officer's quarters in Aldershot puts her near Marlborough Infants, which I've heard is good. The Ofsted report looks pretty good. I'm afraid I don't know which junior schools they feed into, but if they are near that school they'd also be near St Marks primary (gorgeous and tiny school) and South Farnborough Juniors. She'll also be within easy driving distance of Holly Lodge Primary and Mytchett Primary Schools.

If they are to be housed among the lower ranks, as it were, I think their nearest school would be Talavera Infants (Junior school on adjacent site.) All I'd say there is: read the Ofsted reports! (I'd not normally say that but this time, I am.)

St Michael's CofE has a great reputation locally.
St Josephs if they are catholic.

St Michaels and St Joseph's both good. Have heard varying reports of Belle Vue. If you can get in Badshot Lea infants, just outside of Aldershot, is lovely too.

She said either St Michaels or St Marks or both (can't remember) were out because there was a list and they don't go to church. Thanks anyway.

I second what abgirl says, although again I am just going on what I have heard other parents/teacher friends say in the past - no direct experience of any of them myself.

st marks is aided. but ST Michaels in controlled, so LEA sets admissions criteria.

She could also look at Walsh CofE (Ash) and Holly Lodge (Ash Vale/north camp)

If she doesn't have quarters confirmed tell her to push for Church Crookham village, just on the outskirts of Aldershot. Or Hook, or even try for the RAF qtrs I think they are Odiham way?

I had a nightmare trying for schools in the area, but Church Crookham school, Dogmersfield and Crondall are excellent. Fleet and Hook also good out of locality too.

The nightmare of that area is the infants and juniors are separate in a lot of schools, Hook for example, so you aren't guaranteed a place in one if you get into the other iyswim?

Kids are bused all over the areas due to oversubscription to good schools in the older brackets too.

Apologies for the negativity! Can they private prep? There is a private school in Church Crookham St Nicholas I think?
