can anyone shed any light on past catchments for this school?

Its voluntary aided Catholic school, so this info is not available from LEA, apparently.

The catchment is measured from the church (not the school). this year it was 1 mile, last year it was 0.5 mile.

we live 0.65 mile and are trying to fond out what the catchment has been in recent previous years to see if we have a chance of getting in.

I've heard that the catchment area isn't very wide. We're currently looking for houses in the area so I'd also be interested to hear from anyone who's had recent experience of getting a place or missing out on one.

Thanks!

hey panda
we moved here 4 years ago and catchments have reduced dramtically in that time.

we live nr southgate green and it is a 'black hole' for schools- as i was told by a local school secretary.

you need to live on top of walker school, and you need to be practising catholic for st monicas- but be warned the catchement is measured from the church in palmers green. and there arent any other schools within walking distance. Sad

Hi there, I currently have 2 of my dcs at st.monicas, we live in winchmore hill just around the green area... The catchment varies due to siblings but last year believe it went to about 0.8 mile.. Other years barely to 0.3.... As other people said its measured from the church, not the school.... worth popping in to the school office, they may be able to be clearer with you... Good luck, the school is fantastic

With a great deal of regret i feel i have to warn any prospective mum's considering St Monica's School N14. I am a current parent at this school and feel i must point out certain unfortunate failings at this school, they are as follows. This school is run by someone is more interested in the image and budget of the school as opposed to the best interest of the pupils . These failing's are best demonstrated by the way the school's bullying policy is actually implemented . Should your child be the unfortunate victim of bullying instead of receiving reassurance that a full investigation will take place instead the problem is likely to blamed on your child and your child's honesty questioned to the extend of external bodies. No minutes are kept of any meetings with parents leading to a culture of plausible deniability. If you doubt this please request figures from the school for children who have left this school and moved to local schools . This was once an excellent school sadly poor leadership has led to some very good teachers leaving. Wish i hadn't been forced to say this but at the end of the day someone needs to speak out.
