Windsor Middle Schools: Dedworth or St Edwards?????

Hi - Don't know if anyone can give me advise on this one. Been to see all 3 middle schools in Windsor and we've ruled out Trevelyan. But - Dedworth and St Edwards both are still on the list and we need to make a decision pretty sharpish. St Edwards - as parents we were really impressed (although a bit wary of the religious side of it and it is small), but DD is point blank saying she doesn't want to go there cos all her friends are going to go to Dedworth. Dedworth - we liked it,but the whole open evening was chaotic, and we didn't like the fact that the headmaster did not get the children involved.

So - help, please! Has anyone got any current experience of these two schools? Also, how do you deal with the situation if you are going to select one school but your child desperately wants to go to the other one just so that she can be with her friends. All advise will be gratefully received.

I went to St Edwards as did my brothers and sister. It is a great school and I never found it too religious, a few hymns in assembly and a yearly christmas service in church is all I can remember! It used to be a catholic school but then changed to a ecumenical school when it joined with Royal Free Middle many many moons ago.

I have great memories from that school although my knowledge of it is not that current!

My mum made the mistake of letting me decide, I chose Trevelyan as all my friends were going there. I had the most miserable time and moved to St Edwards (did not know anyone) so go with your gut. Your daughter will make new friends really quickly.
