Giving you a bump, no experience of this. I would say contact a GP though, she shouldn’t be in severe pain. Hope someone can comment with more helpful info soon.

I had this when I was younger but only on the worst days.

I had this for one day each month at that age. I never dreamt of complaining but if it happened to my daughter I would be straight to the gp.
In my case it settled down with age and also significantly improved if I did a decent amount of exercise.

I had this as a teen. My doctor prescribed mefenamic acid which helped a lot with the pain and nausea.

It all calmed down in my twenties if that's any comfort!

I knew two girls that suffer just the same. I'm not sure they sought or got medical help for it. I had never suffered until recently - I am 43 - when the day before my period I get vaguely nauseous for half an hour or so. I think it must be the cramping.

I had this too and as above was prescribed mefanamic acid aka ponsten forte? Also fainted on the worst days! Was also prescribed mini pill (not sure why and don't think it helped). Anyway did improve slightly in my mid to late twenties. Thanks to your daughter.

Ahh poor girl, I was prescribed ponstan forte (mefanemic acid) for this as a teen which helped a lot but I ended up in the pill which cured the problem. Hope the doctor can prescribe something to help her

I also was prescribed mefenamic acid - needed it from about 14-17 and since aged 17 the odd ibuprofen does the trick!

I also suffered with this. I saw my GP and was put on the Pill (Microgynon 30). It has worked ever since. I still sometimes get awful cramps, but it stopped my monthly vomiting.

Hope your DD gets the help she needs xx

Oh yes, this was me. Managed to fail an O Level thanks to it (I’m old!!) My mum did bugger all about it - I’d be taking your DD to the GP.

I went on the pill very young due to sickness and period pain.

In my 30’s I did lots of research and started taking Starflower Oil (every day of the month) and it improved my period symptoms massively. I wish I’d known about it when I was younger.
My DD hasn’t started yet... dreading it!

I had this as a teen (and looser stools!) and also got mefenamic acid tablets. I think they prefer a couple of days of ibuprofen now as this can lighten period slightly so helps overall.

Ps I was on the pill for my periods at around 17/18 which was great help for about a year and it was never as bad again (but this may have just been to me being older age).

The GP said it was related to the cramps and “prostaglandins” but I had no idea what this meant until about 10 years later!
