My DS (10) over the break has worn over the knee socks and his older sister's tights to keep warm. This has really helped him to keep warm under his jeans and shorts, and he doesn't mind walking around the house or playing outside in them. He's a little nervous about going back to school though. Would you recommend him to continue to wear the clothes that he likes, or just wear them on the weekends?

Perhaps just get him some thermal long johns? Where are you that it's so cold?
If it's so cold, why does he wear shorts?

When it's really cold DS and his friends wear their football skins under their trousers. Why is he wearing shorts if it's cold? There are plenty of boys over the knee socks and thermal long John's, footie skins etc. OR is this more about him wanting to wear his sisters clothes than being warm
