How often does your preteen shower?

At 11 I think my DS should be showering daily, he sweats during the night a fair bit and also is a very active child. It became a daily argument with him and then my DP decided that at 11 he is fine to shower every other day because he has not yet hit puberty Confused

My son is still a nightmare to get in the shower every other day, but at least it's not a daily argument.

However, I still think he should be showering each day.

How often does your preteen shower and do they do it without being asked to do so or have to be pushed?

Rarely at that age now I can't get him out.
If he doesn't smell don't worry.

Do the sniff test.

Mine is 13 and she showers every couple of days. It's not worth the argument to push it more often than that tbh. It's up to her if she wants to smell

Every day. It's nonnegotiable in this house, especially as she refuses to wear deodorant even though she could probably do with it!

Mine is 11 and we have come to a compromise of every other day after a few months of arguing.
He doesn't smell and occasionally has a shower every day if I insist.

Mine have been showering every morning since that age. They'd stink otherwise.

I have an 11 year old and blessedly, he loves showering (too much, really). He would stink if he skipped a day - he also does sport 5 or 6 days a week so it's non-negotiable.

Would a trip to Boots to pick out his own stuff help?

Daily but at the end of the day. I suspect we will move to quick morning showers in the spring.

I got him some kids deodorant and he said it was for little boys and he wanted lynx. So on my next shopping trip I got lynx deodorant, lynx shower gel and adidas aftershave (adidas is another favourite brand) well the deodorant doesn't get touched unless I remind him and the aftershave hasn't been touched at all (although I don't mind this, it was more of a treat so he felt a little more grown up)

My dsd only appears to shower eow when she's with us. I'm afraid she stinks but it doesn't appear to bother her.
While she's here she showers every day and also washes her long curly hair once, that is also the only washing it gets.
She only uses deodorant here too.
She's starting secondary school soon & I think that might make her want to smell less. Who knows.

Mine is 12 and it's every day, also non negotiable. He does smell in the mornings.

It won't be long before he realises that the ladies don't like smelly boys. Wink
