My youngest has just over 2 weeks left at junior school. I'm already in bits. Dreading the leavers assembly. I'm going to be an absolute mess when they sing 'Goodbye My Friend'. Almost feel like I can't face it but I have to. I'm so sad. I actually feel like I'm grieving or something. I suppose I am in a way. It's all gone so quickly. Is this normal??

I think there's probably a range of reactions to being in your situation. Some here will empathise and others less so. I had a bit of a cry at leavers assembly but don't think I dreaded it for weeks beforehand. 'Tis a big transition saying goodbye to primary years though.
Is there anything else going on in your life that would make this especially poignant? Do you have a DP or friends you can talk to?

There are lots of Y6 leaving things going on at school at the mo, big school play, trips out and other stuff, busy time, so it's all just suddenly hit me this is it, my kids aren't little any more. And how quick its all gone. That's all.

My youngest left primary last year. I agree it is sad, it is the end of an era.
However, your job as a parent is to help them grow up to become independent adults, try to view it as a new exciting time in their life and be excited/happy for them (and you as you get more freedom as they get older).
