Hi everyone
I haven't been on here in a while .....but our problem has remained the same.
My 11yo daughter is very hairy :( Has been all over really since age 4. We've had bloods done and everything is normal. Obviously just some sort of genetic thing. Hubby and I aren't that hairy but I do have a hairy brother and he has a hairy sister so clearly the genes are there on both sides. Such a bummer for DD.
Things didn't really change much until recently. She's always had very hairy arms and legs (including upper thigh) but lately the upper lip has also been a problem. She has a LOT of pubic hair and has done for years along with underarm hair. Even her buttocks are furry. Im so sad for her. She's just started having electrolysis on her lip (and coping so well with beggar all pain relief).
Its mousy brown hair against pale skin which does tan in summer. Not a huge contrast in colour so Id be hesitant with her doing laser in the future. Ive also read too much about laser induced hair growth which would be horrific!
What to do!? She's such a gorgeous girl with a wonderful kind heart but this hair is getting her down. She's so young to be worrying about this sort of thing. Its always commented on and its just heart breaking to not be able to fix this for her.
Anyone on here who was hairy as a tween to have the hair IMPROVE after puberty? Im guessing it will worsen if anything. Im hoping for a small adjustment in something hormonal to even things out a bit. Kind of like how some women get hairy during pregnancy and then it improves afterwards. Think I'm dreaming really ...
Anyone?
