Hi
My son is 10 years and 9 months. He has had BO for six months and has a couple of darker hairs on his testicles. But recently his emotions are unbearable. He's either really happy, really angry or really sad. He is quite unsettled about it too. Is this normal for his age?

Definitely. My DS1 had those symptoms from about 9 years, and a feint moustache by 11. As with most things, it passes, but it's not nice for anyone concerned. When we think of hormones we always think of girls, but it's not an easy time for boys either.

My son is 8, 9 in about 4 months. He's in year 4. I've noticed a few darker hairs in his pubic region and he's definitely grown generally in the last few months. The definition of precocious puberty is under 9 for boys so my question is should I do anything or would this be in the range of normal? Anyone with any experience, professional or personal? Thanks

You should definately get him checked out and referred to an endocrinologist if puberty is starting this early just to protect height. Some children need puberty slowed down.

Pretty normal I would say. I noticed darker hairs in DS pubic region from year 5 (aged nearly 10) but he's year 8 now and last time I saw that area(!) about 6 months ago he had more hair but wasn't full on. Now he is much more private so I assume he's more into puberty. He's growing like a weed so no worries re height.
