Just had my PT meeting with DD1 teacher: DD has just turned 9. Overall very positive, teacher very happy with her progress, but did mention she had some concerns re how DD saw herself. At the start of the term she asked to children to do an excercise describing how they saw them selves and how they thought others saw them. DDs answer was "a waste of space". Now she was struggling a little with settling back to school, but is outwardly a confident chatty wee thing so this came as a bit of a surprise to The teacher and myself. Teacher talked to her at the time and is keeping an eye on her, she didn't want to make a big deal until she knew it was more than start of term blues, she plans to repeat the excercise before christmas. A fee things DD has said in passing have made me think that the issue may still be there though. She gets plenty of positive reinforcement from her dad and me, but we obviously need to work on this a bit more. Any suggestions for books either she or I can read to help?
