Do spots increase before girls start their periods?

My daughter has always had a few spots but over the last six weeks they've got noticeably worse, forehead, nose and skin and look like their coming out on her cheeks.

Just wondering if this is something she'll have to cope with for a couple of years now, or whether they could be due to hormonal changes just before starting periods. Her breasts have been growing for a couple of years and pubic hair started about 18 months ago, so think her periods could be due soon. She's nearly 13.

I hope not. My 9 year old has recently 'erupted' and her forehead is almost totally covered in spots and bumps.

(we have found simple wipes to be best way to introduce cleansing hygiene btw).

I'm not ready to deal with periods yet.

Yes, that is normal. Can I recommend something? there is this series from the US called American Girl Books, you can get them on Amazon (UK) and they have one my kids loved: "The Care and Keeping of You: The Body Book for Younger Girls." It is just the nicest book with plenty of good advice. It's hormones and she just needs to get a good and very gentle cleaning routine
