What age did you let your DC watch the films?
I have 2 DC who are 6 and I think they are still too young, but neither me nor my DH have watched the films.

I think they would be fine to watch at 6 years old - with one exception. The 3rd film in the new trilogy, Revenge of the Sith, is too disturbing for a 6 year old.

Start with Star Wars 4: A New Hope and see how you get on. They may not be interested. There is also the cartoon series, The Clone Wars, but, as I have never watched that, I am unsure if it would be suitable.

I just my DVDs Grin The original trilogy are all rated U so there should be no problems there. A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi.

The new trilogy are rated PG for The Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones. The Revenge of the Sith is a 12. Tbh, they're not as good as the original trilogy anyway! Grin

DS is 6 and he loves them. I agree that the last of the 'new' ones is too much for now and he doesn't get to watch it yet. He tends to watch the 'old' ones anyway and is less interested in the newer ones.

Ooh, and get some Star Wars Lego! Amazing stuff. I so wish it had been out when I was a child. GrinGrinGrin

I was like, 3. It was impossible to avoid it with my dad though. I fear I have turned into him.

My son has been watching them all since he was 3. He is Star Wars obsessed. I had never watched a Star Wars film before and now have a huge (unwanted) knowledge of it.

The films are all PG, with the exception of Revenge of the Sith which is a 12 (It didn't occur to me to check before I let him watch it as the others were all PG....rookie bad mother mistake). My son has watched this one and did not find it traumatic (and he is very sensitive), in fact it is his favourite.

We let ours watch the original trilogy at age 6ish, then episode 1 and 2 at 7ish.

Revenge of the Sith is completely different, much darker. I would say about 9/10ish for that one.
