why has my dd lost the ability to wash her own hair?

dd has been self sufficient in the hairwash stakes for about 3 years

she has VERY thick hair and has hit the terrible grease stage

she wanted her hair straightened tonight so I sent her off to wash and dry it

I sectioned it off to straighten but it still looked wet [eww yuck]
the top of her hair is beautifully clean but underneath is grim

she won't let me in the bathroom with her and I don't really want to be washing her hair for her anyway

how do I fix the issue?

Mostly shampoos clean the first time. Could you suggest that she turns her head upside down and washes underneath too?
Do you have a shower? is it possible that she isn't using enough product?

Could it be that she never washed the underneath that thoroughly but you couldn't tell before because it didn't get greasy and really need that much cleaning to make it look fresh.

hi - I have had the same problem with 13 year old DD. She had greasy hair the next day after washing it with flaky scalp. Took her to GP who said it was hormones but to try Tgel and towel dry hair as much as possible after washing. This GP was a lady and said if the dry the roots of the hair it will tend to de-grease it.

Also advise was not to let child put her hands through her hair!

Anyway seems to have worked - DD now washes her hair every 3rd day approx and it looks a lot better.

that may well be the case nappy

she has very thick hair which she washes in the shower but it takes ages just to get it all wet so not sure if it's wet enough before she starts soaping it

she explains how she is doing it and she sounds to be doing it right but can't watch her

Diluting the shampoo a bit a in a jug or cup helps to get the shampoo to all parts of the hair.
dd can be a bit rubbish at hair washing, but this has helped her- we used to find bubbly bits left in her hair.

Head and shoulders citrus is very good as is 'I love juicy' from lush.

I second turning her head upside down for the second shampoo.

My Dd uses a tangle tamer in the shower to make sure she's rinsing it out properly.
