We tried DS1 at the nursery connected to the primary school we wanted him to go to, he hated it, uniform etc... just wasn't him

This was at 3. I took him out 3 days later and got him a 5 morning place at surestart playgroup, he loves it.

Now he is 5 in December and starting the primary school reception class.

Now his brother is 3 and we have a place for september for the surestart nursery for him,

but on the phone to primary school theey suggested he m be able to get a place at the school nursery come september.

DS2 is completely different to DS1 and Im confident we would not have the problems we did with DS1, well fairly,

so my question is, for DS2

    • Sure start primary that he is familiar with, I know the staff weel, I volunteer there.

  1. Primary nursery from the start?

Im thinking DS2 being in the uniform and going to nursery may help DS1 going to? As he is still very wary.

Where do you think your ds2 will thrive best?

what problems did he have I dont quite understand
whats wrong with wearing uniform?
he was 3
does as he is told and then has lots of fun at nursery
and you'll only tried for 3 days...

I think you should just send ds2 to the roimary nursery

look at the logistics
will it be easier for you to take both boys to the same place?
if you have to take DS1 to school anyway, then you might as well take DS2 to the nursery there.
That's how I would look at it, anything for an easy life!

I have a similar position with my DD. DS is going into year 1 next year and I am moving her out of her current day nursery to go to the school nursery.

For me the practical benefits are huge, plus I think it will really benefit in terms of getting used to the school and making friends before she starts school. DS started into reception WITHOUT going to the school nursery and although he has settled really well, I do think that he would have settled better and more quickly if he'd been to the school nursery first.

I agree with a pp that 3 days is really not long enough to settle in - the staff at the school nursery are suggesting that the whold period up to October half term is considered to be "settling in" time.
