Ideas for Kids Graduation/Summer Party (4yr olds)

Hi there,

Was wondering if any people out there had any ideas for me. I'm wanting to hold a Graduation/Summer party for my 4 year old who is leaving nursery for school, the friends he has in nursery are all going into different schools so think it would be nice as a final goodbye type thing. Don't really know if the mortar board etc is the type to have or go for something more child like. So if anyone has any ideas please let me know.
Thank you, Furiojoe

One year we had like a fete with little stalls for them.
Then they all recieved a certificate and a medal.

Another year we had a party with an entertainer and they all fot a photo of themself and a balloon.

Another year we had a picnic lunch then an entertainer and they all got a bag of sweets and a handprint thing.

thsi year we are haing a summer party and an ice cream van and chip van . Alsoa photo of the child with their teachers (requested by parents) and a certificate.

They were all orgainsed by the preschool, not individual people, and were "Leavers" parties.

OK sorry I had the whole american parading with gowns and mortar boards thing...

At DS2's play group they have a summer picnic at the end of the summer term with parents and siblings it is fab.

I really like the idea of an end of term party for your DS & friends especially as they're going to different schools, but seriously no gowns / mortar boards / mentions of 'graduation'... they're 3 & 4 year olds.

We normally have a end of term party at preschool (magician and part food!) and do the leavers bits then however we have 17 leavers this year and it will be mayhem so we are having a afternoon session just for school leavers they will come to preschool as normal and play for an hour then we (ie staff and committee) will set chairs up for parents and table with childrens bits on and invited parents back at 2.15 for tea/fruit juice and cake (expect children will tuck into cake too!) then they'll go up one by one, commitee have bought all children a teddy with tshirt that has teh preschool logo/name on it and July 2009 on the back, preschool manager makes them all a individual book with photos of their time at preschool and comments and then parents get a folder of pictures etc that the child has done, they also get a certificate/good luck thing!

what a lovely idea
get a children's entertainer and have lots of unhealthy food, they will love it!

we do leaving parties for our pre-schoolers and we do games, then tea and then finish with the entertainer

have fun!
