Confuses b and d - dyslexic?

My daughter, who turned 4 last week, is doing really well with wrting and first signs of reading but confuses b and d alot.
Does anyone know if this is normal at her age or should I worry she might be dyslexic?

Completely normal at that age

This is normal for her age.To help her, look at letterland which has pics for letters.
You can also make the shape of the letters if you make a circle with your left thumb and 1st finger it makes b and the same with right hand for d but it will come in time

completely normal. She actually sounds quite advanced, at least more advanced then my four year old.

we say 'Big belly B' 'b' not 'bee'

and we look for the tail on the 'd' is the dog wagging his tail?

'p' was also interesting at first so we said it was a naughty letter and poked all the others below. Ds went to school saying 'pokey 'p' poke, poke, poke, to his teacher

Very normal. DS1 is deffo not dyslexic, but even now, at 7, he sometimes makes this mistake.

The trick that helps him, sometimes, is to make 'thumbs up' gestures with both hands. That makes a b and a d - and together they look like a bed.

I think this is a phase that most children go through. DS certainly did.

My 8yo still does it, school insists she's not dyslexic, certainly her reading and writing is fine in other ways (though her spelling is abysmal).

My 7yo does it sometimes too, she's certainly not remotely dyslexic, she's very literate.

Both still regularly write z backwards too.

Very reassuring thread! My 3yo DD knows about half the letters (Super Why on Nick Jr is brilliant for this btw) and confuses m and w, T and I, and b and d among others.

I'm still unsure as to whether to teach her u/c or l/c as the 'primary' letter though, it must be really daunting to have so much to learn.

Always start with l/c letters first and then introduce u/c for names and proper nouns and develop from there (or at least that is what my ds's nursery and now school do).
