If she is, in fact, a recovering alcoholic to boot, there is no need to tell me of my faux pas.

What about a very nice posh pen? Someone gave me a silver book mark once, it's tres delightful.

Or a nice photo frame, or a silver dish. A silver dish is my present for all occasions. You can artfully arange pot pourri and lemons, or sling your keys and spare change in it.
