Classical Music for babies' development

A mummy in another group I’m in was asking about nursery rhymes which didn’t have an American accent. I’m a classical musician, and have also been really struggling to find good-quality music for babies and toddlers which doesn’t drive me mad!

My DD was 3 months when we went into lockdown here in the UK, and it has been a really tough time for me and DH (also a musician), as our industry and income disappeared overnight. After a lot of tears and sleepless nights, we started to record a few of our own nursery rhymes in new arrangements and with real classical instruments. We have just self-released an album called ‘The Classical Nursery’ and would be so grateful if any of you mummies wanted to look us up on Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes or Amazon and have a listen. I’m also writing on Instagram under Treble and Trumpet about why classical music is so important for little ones’ development.

I hope it’s ok to post about this as the music is available for anyone to hear for free, so we won’t be making any money from it (only if we get 100 million streams or something!) - and we wanted it to be accessible for all new parents who might be going a bit loopy during this second lockdown

Thank you for reading and for the support xx

They sound nice, really well done taking the initiative at a difficult time.

I was glad I discovered Twinkle Twinkle Little Rock Star with our first one, with whom we spent hours and hours at his cot-side knackered and semi-asleep (amazing how it all goes out of the window with the second one, lol). It's lullaby-style accoustic covers of almost any famous music act you can think of, really well done. I particularly enjoyed covers of the heavy metal bands of normally listen to.

Also, when we're allowed out of our cages again, I can recommend the Bach to Baby live classical music events. It's so great to be able to have kids listen to classical and still be kids, i.e. run and jump around without being shushed.

BBC schools used to have a huge collection on their website too. Try Googling that one too.
