Should I talk to pre-school about this?

So far this term, DS2 (4) has come home from pre-school with a broken sword (his own he'd taken in) and today he'd had the patch ripped off his trousers.

However, he enjoys going, and I suspect I'm more bothered by it than he is.

Can't decide whether to raise it with pre-school or put it down to the rough and tumble of 3 - 4 year olds.

I would not send any toy to preschool that DS would be devastated to lose or break - there are 28 children and 6 staff, which means things happen like that, they just do. Children should not be taking valuable or breakable stuff to preschool.

Ripped clothes I would more raise an eyebrow about, my DS is a demon and very rough&tumble, but we've never had any ripped clothes. But ultimately, I send DS in rough clothes as they do get damaged when kids are playing.

I know it is frustrating when things get damaged, but unless it is happening very frequently, I think that sometime it does "just happen".

Thanks Woodburnerbabe - as he's happy I'll leave it, unless things continue to happen. We do try to dissuade him from taking toys in!

No. Send him in his oldest tattiest clothes, let him rip them, stain them with paint etc etc he is having fun. Buy cheap clothes or get hand me downs for pre school

I wouldn't let him take his own toys in, I'm surprised the pre-school allowed him to bring a sword tbh!

Nursery clothes do tend to get stained, torn and damaged.

Hence patched trousers - galled because I'd only just done it.

That's just kids though! For some reason, my DS is murder on socks. I must buy him twice as many as his big sister, and I'm forever throwing pairs out with holes in. Like several pairs a week, I just don't understand! YY to patching clothes, I use my old jeans and joggers to do his clothes :-)

Home toys should stay home. There are plenty of toys at nursery to enjoy. As for the ripped clothes, it's all part of the joy of being four. No need to talk to the preschool.

my friend gets her DD (2) nursery clothes from primary or charity shops. her other clothes were getting wrecked...now she doesn't care .

Don't send toys in. That's asking for trouble :o

Check out your local free press and buy a big bag of boys clothes for a fiver and send him in wearing second hand stuff that doesn't matter if it gets ripped or stained.
