Where to move next from Stoke Newington? (Considering Enfield)

Hello,

We need to move out of N16 so we afford a second bedroom. Our one year old son currently has our bedroom and we sleep on the creaky sofa bed in the lounge!

Enfield Town seems quite nice. Does anyone have any recommendations on which roads would be useful to look at with good nursery/primary schools in mind?

We're also going to look at Palmers Green. Any suggestions on other areas?

We'd ideally like a reasonably priced 2 bed house with garden, good park/countryside, local kids classes, sports centre and decent shops we can walk to, plus easy travel to Kings Cross!

Many thanks

Would you consider moving further out?? There are some good train links to Kings Cross in Herts, schools tend to be better overall (higher averages) and property is cheaper. But I know some people find it hard to leave London! Smile

(I'm from Enfield originally myself.)

With either palmers green or enfield you need to be looking at local schools - check out their ofsted reports, websites etc. Both areas come under Enfield council, and on their website there's a school application booklet that tells you the maximum 'catchment' distance from each school (not really a catchment area, but gives you an idea of how far you can live from the school and stand a chance of your child getting in) in the past years.

Then choose a house as close as you can to the school you like best. :)

Good luck, they're both nice areas to live in.
