Just wanted to say thanks to this thread a couple of months ago I stocked up on basics, items in my freezer and things I’d need to isolate for 14 days.

After feeling unwell on Monday evening, I went for a test yesterday and it came back positive today.

I know that one thing I haven’t got to worry about is how to eat well over the next two weeks, thanks to reading this thread and taking note.. so thank you!

So glad you have stuff in. Much better than the poster who wanted to pop into Tesco on the way back from the testing center. Shock

Hope you feel better soon and enjoy your preps. Remember to restock afterwards or with a delivery.

Restocking is the annoying often forgotten bit. Much more fun to start with. Checking tins and stocks...less so.

How are you doing @Poppins17? Hope you generally feeling OK. How is your stash holding out? Have you missed anything, any regrets?

Hope you recover and feel better soon.

I don’t actually consider myself a pepper but developed a habit of having full cupboards due to A, uncertainty and lack of food growing up and B, living in a highly seismic active country. I was surprised by feeling calm when the first lockdown started.

yes, we had a brexit stockpile which meant we felt very relaxed during the first lockdown
I mentioned it in passing to some visitors once (this was pre covid) and they thought I was being paranoid, I bet they don't think that now!

Yet some people still think there won't be a problem if people don't panic buy. People are going to buy what they need, and just a little bit extra to tide them over New Year and shops are going to be out of their normal pattern due to bank holidays and Christmas buying.

People are going to try and make sure they have all of what they need, whether they do that early like us or later. It is a normal reaction based on survival instincts. Also a chain reaction, if they see one person doing it or a gap in the shelves due to Christmas they may worry and take one extra. All those one extras add up to a whole heap of trouble.

People are going to behave in the same way as March because they are people and are going to try and look after their children and families.

I know how they felt. It was really hard work to rationalize round the shops and not buy extra pasta when there wasn't much left. ( I was in for fresh veg bread and milk) also I did not see the worst as we were staying in isolating in the last week and had a vulnerable child.
