How have you increased your prepping in the last few weeks?

Hi fellow preppers. Just wanted to ask how everyone has added to their preparedness lifestyle in the last Weeks/months. Not just related to C19, although that may be the main driver at the moment, but just generally. I have purchased some solar panels and power bank. Mainly for a camping trip we went on bu5 also because we frequently loose power at home. Also moved a greenhouse and set up a water collection system (rain) plus going To purchase more seeds this weekend for next year. Organised and took stock of my pantry and planning to do freezer soon. Any other ideas would be interesting. X

Sadly, I have very little space in our flat for prepping stuff. I have some things in a small cupboard (pasta, lentils, flour, few tins, tea and coffee, jam, also nightlights, LED lanterns, matches , candles, paracetamol)
Can’t really get anything else in there. Bought a solar power bank, and will buy more head torches.
I do have a small upright freezer in the summer house which I plan to put stuff in. Summer house gets very hot though so probably not good for food just now, although maybe in winter can put some stuff in there.
We have electric throws and hot water bottles. Cars have first aid kits and torches in them

I've started picking the odd few bits up again, and cataloguing what I have.

I need to get better organised with my freezer food and rotation, as I'm feeling pretty good about the shelf stuff I have. Will order a sack of potatoes in a month or so.

Have started a payment plan with a local butcher for all the meat for Christmas, and have a big bag of stocking things put away.

I have checked the pantry and made a list of everything I need to top up on. I keep a list on my phone that I add to when things run low. I have been sorting through all items to make sure things are where they should be. Looking at getting another freezer and am busy canning and dehydrating fruits that will be out of season soon.
I would love some solar panels.

My re-newed Brexit-stash is packed away in boxes and I have now started to refill the pantry to normal levels, which would see us through a second wave if need be. I had moved the Brexit stuff into the pantry in January, because most of it was due to expire soon, and was planning to replace it over summer.
I did a brief stock-up at the beginning of February, when it was clear what was coming, and then barely shopped until about 2 months ago, when local shortages were over. So most of my prepping is done, will need to get some new winter clothes and new socks, underwear, etc but then we are ready for whatever disaster strikes next.

TBH the thing that I struggled with most in early lockdown wasn't food, it was looking after DD (4). So I'm renewing my homeschooling supplies and thinking ahead to Christmas. Over the past few months I've built up quite a good idea of what has been useful to keep DD entertained, and what I've wished we had. So I'm restocking on:

  • drawing and craft paper
  • stickers
  • workbooks
  • paint
  • story books
  • craft supplies

I'm also checking we're set for wet and cold weather gear, kids medicines, and slowly buying a few Christmas gifts. Decluttering like crazy to make room and raise funds for it all.

Half way through my Christmas present list, chimley swept, winter fuel ordered cupboards heaving waiting on Xmas food bits to come into shops then will start buying, gloves and cold weather bits bought, masks and sanitisers ready for start of school/University. car a bit of worry as on its last wheels but will last till new year, just need to visit vet and deal with jabs and yearly bits, I think at this point on its just trying not to stress to much and except that I can't do everything but iv tried to think of as much as possible and hope that things don't descend into a disaster movie

Have been slowly replenishing depleted stocks, will do a flour order soon as it seems certain the price of flour will go up with a poor wheat harvest on the horizon. I made more space in the storage area by moving some books off shelves and back to the loft. I need to make sure I have enough of my supplements in stock but they're expensive so having to pace myself on that!
