Storing flour against mice - what's best? Freezer? Metal? Heavy Plastic?

Just found out we've acquired some mice in the larder. They've nibbled through a plastic bag of flour, that'll have to be disposed of; but I've just taken delivery of a sack of bread flour and I'd appreciate some advice on protecting it whilst I find the mice's ways in and block them.

There would be space in the freezer to take it, and I've read here and elsewhere that flour does OK in the freezer, can even kill off weevils if you have them. I'm concerned about what happens when I take it back out though.

Will condensation form on it and ruin it? Once in the freezer, do I have to take it out just before using it and in the amounts I'm using it to get round condensation forming? Or can I take it back out as a sack and it'll be OK?

If the freezer isn't the way to go, what other storage would you recommend?

The lower wheeled box in this set fits a 16kg bag of flour nicely. I think you can also get the box separately without the one on top.

Mine is a pet food storage container but a bit smaller than the one above at 30l. I supect mine is thinner than the wheeled one seeing as it was under £15. I weighed my flour into plastic bags, 1kg each, which means as I used it up I could use the box to store other dried goods under the flour. I have a storage canister in the kitchen that was meant for cereal which has a couple of kilos in it and then I top it up from the storage in the garage as I need to. I've livied here 30 years and only had a mouse once but once was enough.

If I was storing flour in the freezer (no chance - no space) I would still bag it into smaller amounts and take it out a bag at a time. I wouldn't want to be lifting a sack in and out every time I wanted some flour.

We store our flour in the freezer (it’s a 16kg sack, on it’s side with the opening facing the freezer door so I can just take what I need without taking it out the freezer...it fills one whole shelf in the freezer) ands it’s fine.

It doesn’t freeze so can be used like normal. We have always had weevil problems with flour in cupboards but since using the freezer 3 years ago we haven’t had any.

We just kept replacing the flour bag once it’s finished.

This sounds like a really good idea, but doesn't the flour get damp?
