Hi

My daughter is 3 and bit weeks old, 4 weeks on Friday she was 8 weeks early.

She's going to start having bottles in the next few days as she has had a feeding tube since birth.

Can anybody recommend any particular bottle? I have got the MAM ones?

I used the Mam bottles and found them very brilliant (especially the self sterilising in the microwave) but DD was born at 38 weeks so I don’t know if there are any different rules for your little one as she was so early. Do check you have the size 1 teats though as some of the Mam bottles seem to come with the size 2s. As general advice, I’d also avoid buying too many of one type of bottle initially, see how baby gets on with it first and buy more if they work out.

Yeah the ones I've got have size 1 teats but she has such a little mouth I didn't know if they did a size 0 Smile

I would advise the NUK brand of bottles - you can buy them with latex teats which is easier and more natural for the baby to take than silicone.

My 31 weekers struggled with ALL the bottles when they came off their tubes. The hospital had single use teats and they got used to those and the closes we could find with a similar shape teat was pound shop ones.- they have a smaller teat and the hole is bigger so they didn't have to work so hard.

After that we went to Avent with the variflow teat, again, so we could move it to the larger hole and they didn't have to work so hard to suck.

Congratulations!

MAM ones Anti colic are great and you can get Silicon, Latex or silk teats for them - for first couple of days due to our daughters tongue tie we ssteralised and reused the premade bottles for formula which helped then moved onto stage 1.

Good luck and congratulations

My DS was also eight weeks early. NICU recommended some cheap basic ones from Mothercare when his NG tube came out. They worked really well but I'm afraid I can't remember which ones they were. Have you asked the NICU nurses which ones they find works best?
