Jaundice

My boy was born at 35 weeks and spent 13 days in NICU for breathing difficulties and jaundice. He was discharged after his bilirubin levels dropped down but a week later he is still quite jaundiced. Health visitor wasn't too bothered by it and said she will keep an eye on it but then scheduled our next meeting 2 weeks from now. He is 3 weeks old today. How long should he be jaundiced for?

He should be checked earlier than 2 weeks.
Can you take him to the clinic?
It is really important to mske sure he is feeding well and frequently, and having plenty of wet nappies.
It is a bad time of year to deal with jaundice because it is dark and babies are wrapped up.

Mine was still visibly yellow at 8 weeks! But we’d had regular monitoring. Can you phone the ward for advice?

He is feeding well and regularly with plenty set nappies but did just think that 2 weeks was a long time to go. I may give the ward a call tomorrow morning and just see what they say as I do think he is still pretty yellow.

We were told around 2 months, and to get to them as soon as we notice that he is feeding badly or poo gets white. As long as he eats and gains weight and looks happy, they said not to worry too much.
