What caused your early labours?

I have 3 kids. All were early. 29 weeks, 30 weeks and 36 weeks. I was quite underweight with the earlier 2 but put on a few stone with my 36 weeker. Plus I bled heavily with the early 2, but not with the later one. It always started with PPROM. Do you think it could have been my weight gain that helped me carry that bit longer?

My waters completely went at 33 weeks. Labour didn't start until I was induced at 34 weeks. Waters tested for infection but they had no idea why he came early. Pregnancy was fine up until that point (all went wrong after that) but there were no indicators. Strange...

I developed sepsis after DS 2 (35 weeks) and was told I must have had an infection, which would be why I went into labour early.

Thanks for your replies. My water broke at 23 weeks with my oldest. I'd love another baby but I'm so scared the next one would be earlier than the others... luckily, they're all fine, health-wise

I don't know :( was having a textbook pregnancy until 31+3 and felt no movement that day. Went to get checked over for peace of mind and they weren't happy and decided to deliver via emcs. He was blue, not breathing, no heartbeat etc. Was resuscitated and put on a ventilator and thankfully did really well. I would love another but terrified of it happening again and not getting to hospital in time

Not as early as some, but DS2 labour started at 34 weeks. It was because I had a kidney infection (I spend my life battling them) the labour was successfully stopped though , and I was induced 3 weeks later.

Both the very early babies in my family, 24 and 26 weeks have been because of complete placental abruption. The babies arrived in very high risk, dramatic scenario's but have come on leaps and bounds.

My 27 weekend had no reason :( I did have an awful trauma that week though so I’m not sure if it could have been this

@shirley1985

I had a full term baby after my 27 weeker. Like I say there was no real known reason, if there is no reason found there's honestly no answer whether you will reach full term or not.

Are they taking care of you? How is your care plan? I used progesterone on a clinic trial with my second from 22 weeks, I know that can be an option.

My waters went at 35 weeks but I have no idea why... textbook low risk and easy pregnancy until that point.
Slightly worried that if we have another it could happen earlier Confused

Had bleeding from 19 weeks onwards due to a haematoma. Contractions- regular but not very painful - from 25 weeks onwards. Properly went into labour (ie dilating) on 26+5 and DS was born at 27 weeks to the day. Placenta was sent off for tests and it showed I had an infection of the cord and uterine lining (chorionamionitis). Doctors seem to think that the ongoing bleeding ultimately led to an infection, which triggered the labour.

Not very early. But my son was born at 36 weeks exactly just 10 weeks ago. Completely out the blue no warning signs and text book healthy pregnancy except from early bleeding. The day before I went into labour I went a long walk up the west highland way I'm not sure if that contributed. Went into labour on my birthday 150 miles away from home. As was away for a last minute getaway with my dh before baby was due. My first baby was induced overdue so I thought no2 would be the same x

Mine was a model pregnancy, not a single problem. I had a few reduced movement episodes, but was not sure if he was not moving and I did not feel it (he never developed much of a pattern) or had a lazier day. Then last week my waters broke at 36 weeks and there he came. I had an acupuncture session the day before, but I was told it could not have sped up the birth, the body was just ready for it the birth and that was that.

I caught the noro virus from work and was very sick throwing up bile and everything so hubby took me to the maternity assessment unit and they put me and baby on a heartbeat monitor and as babies heart rate kept dropping they decided he had to be delivered straight away at 31+1 , it was a shock to say the least , we went to Maternity assessment at 9pm and baby was born at 1:30am by emergency section

Another text book pregnancy here that turned into a prem delivery with no warning

The doctor helpfully told me that they had no idea why DS came early - all they could suggest was me having another baby and seeing if that one went to term or prem delivery was just something that happened to me Hmm
