Weaning Early

My DD is five months at the weekend (corrected she is three and a half months.) I just had her weighed and she is 17 pounds. My son was preterm by five weeks and also big at that age and the HV advised me to wean him early at five months as he was getting up early in the night.
She is doing the same but her development is much further behind obviously. Should I wean her?

She has four or five seven ounce feeds a day and hungry baby milk at night. We were combine breastfeeding as well until Xmas when she went on a nursing strike.

Have you read the Bliss weaning leaflet? Bliss advises weaning between 5 to 8 months actual for prem babies. We started at 28 weeks actual (20 weeks corrected) but a friend started at 5 months actual, 2 months corrected, although this was specifically advised by the paediatrician as her baby was not gaining weight on milk - sounds like your DD is an excellent weight!

Does she have a paediatrician you could ask for advice? Or someone in the SCBU where she was? (just assuming she was in SCBU)

Out of interest, you said you are giving her hungry baby milk at night - is there a particular reason you are doing so? It's just I noticed on your other thread you said she is rather constipated, and I wonder if that could be adding to the problem, potentially?

I'm giving her hungry baby milk otherwise she's up a fair bit in the night and I'm exhausted with the get ups to be honest with my DS (3)
She has pooed loads over the last few days do might just have been a blip. Thank you for your help xxx
