Hello, I’m 22 and I’ve just found out I’m pregnant. My partner is worried we aren’t emotionally or financially ready so wants to consider an abortion. I agree with him but the idea of having an abortion terrifies me. Any advice on what to expect?

Hi there - might be worth getting this moved to Pregnancy Choices.

As to what to expect, it depends on how far along you are. If you're early - 6-8 weeks, then the medical option might be the best one for you. You take a pill, and have one inserted either the same time or the next day, and then within 8 hours it begins to pass.

Have you spoken to anyone about this? BPAS would be your best choice, and they also offer counselling. Good luck.

Hi OP, we're going to move your thread over to our Pregnancy Choices topic if that's okay.

Sorry you're going through such a difficult time. Flowers

Hello OP. I had a termination was I was about 8 weeks pregnant. I had an initial appointment and a vagina scan then given some tablets to take. I went back a couple of days later I think to have pessaries inserted (you can do that yourself or get someone to do it for you ie health care professionals).

After about 40mins I started to cramp and spent the afternoon on my bed lying on a towel going to the loo every so often to pass blood and clots. It wasn't too painful but I did bleed like a heavy period for about a week. DH looked after me and it wasn't pleasant but not horrific either.

It was the right decision for us at the time as we would have ended up losing our house as we had 2 small DC and I was on mat leave and we simply didn't have the money.

It's hard whatever you decide but trust yourself and your instincts. Good luck.
