OMG. Another miracle?

OMG.

Last July, age 43, I gave birth to a son, who was something of a miracle. In the previous few years I'd have four miscarriages (three of them after 10 weeks) and a failed adoption attempt. After that, and 18 months of TTC, we were about to embark on IVF but the period I was waiting for to start the treatment never arrived, as I was pregnant with DS. I had an easy pregnancy, apart from SPD, and he was born via emergency CS.

I'd love another, but realise at my age and with my history, it's unlikely in the extreme. My periods returned in March, when I stopped breastfeeding, and we've just been 'seeing what happens' and not using contraception.

So, what's my point?

Well, I thought AF was arriving a few days ago, with cramps and backache. But she's still not here. And I feel rather strange, as if I'm coming down with something. And this morning my sense of smell is like a bloodhound's. OMG....

(I've posted this on 'conception', too. Forgive me, I'm all of a doodah)

Have you tested? My little miracle was born 2 weeks ago after having fertility treatment for my DD1 and a fair few m/c as well. I was still feeding DD1 and we had been told we would need more treatment if we wanted another so settled on only ever having 1 child. Now I have 2 beautiful girls and can't quite believe no-one will come to the door and ask for their baby back!

Here's hoping! (Am 44, currently 7wks pregnant after 4 consecutive miscarriages, so I know how you feel).

Good luck!

AAAHHHH thank you SO much for this thread, it has given me hope.

40 in a few weeks, had 5 mcs, and we are trying for the next 12 months, then throwing in the towel.

maybe, just maybe.....

I haven't tested yet - too scared! Partly of DP's reaction (I think he's happy with one), and partly as I'm going on holiday on Saturday. Having a miscarriage on holiday would be total grim-ness, whereas having a period wouldn't be so bad!

you need to test, because your symptoms are sounding like another miracle has happened/is happening

please let us know how you get on!!

I can understand you not wanting to test yet. If you'd rather not know if something bad were to happen, it won't make any difference to know this or next week. Is it worth thinking about folic acid though just in case?

I bought some multi-vits at lunchtime. If I'm not pregnant, or if I miscarry, I can tell myself they're just for my general health!

My periods haven't been entirely regular since they started again, which fuels my thoughts that I might be being ridiculous. I'm currently on CD29, and my last cycle was 26 days, but the one before that was 28.

Tightwad - don't give up hope, but try to maintain sanity. A tricky balance, I know!

Just want to add, do make sure you take vitamins suitable for pregnany just in case (normal multivitamins contain too much Vitamin A).

Have a great holiday!

I have PCOS and my periods are all over the place!! Even when I take agnus castus, lost weight, did yoga every week and ate a really healthy diet the most regular they ever got was every 6 weeks :-/

My last AF was 28th Oct and I was getting really pissed off by December because I felt bloated and just a bit generally..off...?

I didn't even consider I might be preg until 23rd Dec by which point I was already about 5 weeks. Needless to say, I'd been out drinking champagne and gin at parties in the run up to Christmas and me and DH had just been on a weekend in Rome where I was eating parma ham, unpasteurised cheese and drinking black coffee and red wine all weekend. And I had def not been taking vitamins...

Moral of the story...do a test if you have some suspicions!! Hope you get the result you want - I took 5 to be on the safe side!!

Hi Wheely! DS is the most wonderful thing to ever happen to me! I love him more than I ever thought possible. It's been the happiest year of my life!

I trust your DD is similarly wonderful?

Little miss - I reckon the embryo doesn't share your blood stream until at least five weeks, so no worries there!

Wow, good luck! The only thing is, if you are going on holiday, would you be wanting to drink etc? Thats the only reason I would test - if I was pregnant, I'd want to be taking care with what i was eating and drinking.
Let us know when/if you test!

I have no tests at the moment. I could buy one now, but I'm meeting a friend for a drink who lost her baby at five months in March, and if she were to see it I'd be mortified.
