That darn Clearblue conception indicator…

OK, so I had an early scan yesterday due to a tiny bit of pink spotting (which I haven't had a repeat of) ? it's 9 wks since my last period. The scan reveals I'm only 5 wks 3 days pregnant, which means when I got my positive test, I was only 4 days gone. But the conception indicator on my test said I was 2-3 wks pregnant! Now I'm freaking out that this means something's wrong? and I've got two weeks until my follow-up scan. Not helped by my general lack of symptoms (other than sore-ish boobs). Am I stressing for no reason?

I've read (and trying to find the links) that those indicators aren't all that reliable. I would try and not stress too much, but then that is SO much easier said than done.

I have my fingers crossed for you that everything is fine.

I hate those indicators, gave me nothing but stress last time round! I would never never ever use one again.

Please try not to stress. Could you not try and get another scan any earlier? When my sister had the same thing happen as you they said come back in a week (and everything was fine)

Will keep all my fingers crossed for you

Those tests should be banned!! I had similar problems and my dr told me to bin them. Am 10 weeks now and all is fine. Told me I wasn't pregnant for ages?!

Ditto all these comments. The indicator test had me in tears for weeks worrying something was wrong. The range is so huge for each week of pregnancy, how can it possibly know specifically how far along an individual is? They really should be banned.
I mentioned one to my midwife and how worried I'd been, but as the words came out my mouth, she was already rolling her eyes at the mention of that test.

Ditto again! I actually work in the Fertility industry in an IVF clinic (and happen to also be 16 weeks pregnant) and we routinely tell our patients to steer well clear of those conception indicator tests. We know they're problematic.
We always tell patients to buy the bog standard test. Much better that way.

Congratulations on your positive test though. I hope everything goes ok for you.

I thought you were supposed to add on the 2 weeks to the result - ie. 2-3 weeks = 5-6 weeks since LMP?

Oh sorry, saw it's 9 weeks since your LMP. Have heard so many negative things about them and also drove myself mad with them too - I tell friends to leave them well alone now.

Hi ladies, sadly it wasn't to be I thought the dates the sonographer came up with didn't tally. Today I had another scan and the baby hasn't grown, still no heartbeat - facing up to a choice between medical and surgical termination to complete the delayed m/c. Horrid times...

Sorry to hear that. The Miscarriage Association has excellent information on the options available if you need it.

i used one with an indicator on it and at first it said three plus weeks and the second one i did only said two to three weeks. Not sure if they are that reliable to be honest.
