Do I need to get this checked - re weight gain

Hello

I am 15 weeks now and weighed myself and I haven't gained a pound. Which would be great if I wasn't worried about that. I am big anyway so I am not supposed to gain much but where is the weight of the baby and all the rest?

I even phoned the midwife and she said it wasn't unusual as women go off food and feel nauseous, except I have been eating as normal, not altered a thing so that explanation doesn't work for me.

Do I need to call back and nag for them to see me?

I don't think its anything to be worried about. If you are overweight to start with its normal to not gain very much weight. I only put on 10lb during my entire pregnancy with DD and she was 7lb9oz when she was born at 36 weeks, so definitely wasn't a problem for her growth.

Am currently 37 weeks pregnant and haven't put on much more this time either, but baby looks to be a good size on scans.

i wouldnt worry about the weight gain at this point, your baby wont be suffering at all, the body prioritises the babys growth and development over yours. you will get your appetite back a bit more now your in your second trimester.

good luck, try not to worry

Hi.
I'm 15 weeks too and I've not gained weight either, in fact I've lost 6lbs! This is my 4th baby and I've usually gained quite alot by now (I'm normally a size 14/16)
I spoke to the midwife last week about it. She said she was sure it was nothing to worry about but agreed to see me at the next clinic. At clinic she checked by stomach and could feel that baby is growing well and we listened to the heartbeat so I feel quite relieved..

When are you next due to see the midwife? Can you bring it forward? 'm sure everything is fine, but it might give you peace of mind

They do not routinely weigh you through pregnancy any more. There must be a good reason for this. Probably because if all else is well it doesn't really matter.

I have a starting BMI of 33 and am delighted to have only gained 1 kg so far (20 weeks). I am eating normally but carefully. Definately not "for 2" and not an excuse to eat lots of cakes.

Relax!!!

I lost half a stone in my first 16 weeks and I have always been on the small side, I wasn't being sick or anything apparently it's quite common?

I lost all appetite (not sick, just not hungry), and here I am at 29 weeks weighing exactly what I started at still - midwives, doctors in 3 countries (don't ask... I didn't know where I was having this baby until a month ago) were all totally fine with it.

I too am rather on the dumpy side, and everyone agreed that it was normal and for the best that I ate what my body wanted and didn't worry about not putting on weight.

Boobs have got huge, big belly, I'm looking on the bright side - I'll probably come out the other end of this a stone lighter than I went in with no effort on my part!

I lost weight at first too, I presumed it was to do with morning sickness and not being able to eat much and obstetrician wasn't bothered in the slightest. I put on very little until I got to 33 weeks actually and like you was worried about it but as it turns out some people put on more weight than others, and as long as the baby is the right size in your scans there's nothing to worry about.

It might be worth doing a search of previous posts to put your mind at ease. It's also no harm to mention it at your next visit to doc/MW, though I'm sure they'll say the same.

Good luck!

I wouldn't worry about it. I too have been eating plenty, even with the sickness, but haven't put on much weight. It's normal for your metabolism to go up in pregnancy.

I feel that I'm losing weight everywhere but my boobs & tum - it seems to be redistributing. And as my urine tests were fine, I'm not ketonic.
