Pregnancy

Pregnant or not?!?

I've just done a clear blue test as I'm a couple of days over due. The horizontal line is a thick blue one but the vertical line, the one which says if you're pregnant or not, is a very thin light blue one. The leaflet says the lines need to be the roughly the same thickness. Has anyone had a result like this and what did you end up being? I know really I only have to wait a couple of days to find out but I'm soooooo impatient for these sorts of things!

If you checked it within the time limit it should be a positive! Congratulations!

It coud be an evap line, so Id re-test.

If it's there, within the time limit, you're pregnant!

Reminds me of testing with dd1. Hadn't told dh I was popping upstairs to test, as I just felt a bit wierd, we'd only ttc once and I didn't want to make a fuss. Called him upstairs and showed him the thin blue line. All he could say was, but how blue? Looking at the leaflet, it basically said if it looks like this, you're pregnant, like this, you're pregnant, like this, you're pregnant, etc. Basically if you have a line, you're pregnant. We went and sat down in shock and didn't talk about it until the next day!

Congrats!

I haven't heard of a test which says the lines have to be the same thickness - a line is a line as far as I'm concerned. I fished my test out of the bin, 3 hours after I did it, and could only see the line if I held it up to the light....but I was still pregnant! (yes I was a bit crazy at the time, but had just had a mc, so can be forgiven). COngrats!

I had a faint clear blue test like that, did a first response too and got similar, I'm currently 8+3, positive is positive no matter how faint! Congratulations!

Thanks ladies I will probably test again, when I say again I mean for the 3rd time, in a couple of days! That time I'll probably get one that tells me I'm pregnant or not, stops all this confusion!

I think it's the law that you have to do at least 6 tests before you start to believe it!

Definitely - I did two tests which were most definitely positive and (this is probably a bit gross) I've kept them and every now and then look at them to reassure myself I'm actually pregnant. I'm now 11+4 and have my first scan next Tues and part of me still thinks I'll get laughed out of the clinic!

If you're getting a bit anxious you could try the Clear Blue Digital test. I did that one and since it came out saying 'PREGNANT - 3+ WEEKS' it was pretty clear!

Plus, even when you get your definite positive, you'll do a few more tests too! It's cool doing more tests when you know it'll be positive!

Got myself a digital one to do tomorrow morning. This is costing me a small fortune, best not tell the hubby eh!

thin line is a line! I had thin line too... it got darker after a week and was way thicker than the test line after 10 days

I think you'll have to tell him at some point!

Do be wary of CB; I had a very thin horizontal come up straightaway and it was a false pos. Agree that digi is the way to go, good luck!

Oh well, did the digital test this afternoon as I am really impatient and it is a resounding negative. I did have quite a bit of water to drink leading up to doing the test and the afternoon is not the best time to do it but I think I am going to just put my feet up and wait for the late monthly visit rather then calculating due dates!

So sorry if we've got your hopes up, it's very unusual to get a false positive. Hopefully it was just the last test that was a false negative though. I guess only time will tell. Hope you've got something to keep you busy in the next few days to keep your mind off it.

No worries, was nice to have so many lovely people being pleased for me I am lucky that this would be my third bundle of joy so am probably a bit more able to be philosophical then if it was my first. Am slightly annoyed about my period deciding to be all erratic though, makes life a bit more confusing

I have heard of false negatives on the digital tests - they don't seem as reliable in the very early days - I would't be surprised if you get a positive in a few more days!

Your third??! Crazy lady, look at your username knackered! (fingers crossed for the next few days regardless!)

I am indeed slightly insane, although I have left a much bigger gap between the second and third! First 2 are 20 months apart and this one, whether it be this month or not I conceive, will be around 4 years apart from my second. I live in a constant state of tiredness so what's one more (famous last words I know!). Still no arrival today, so am thinking I might just test again on saturday . . . .

Yep, mine are 21 months apart. Never again!

There are definitely ways of making it harder for yourself
