Hi,

I have a cold and a nasty headache - at 7 months pregnant. Do you think it would be ok to take a Lemsip? Have so much to do and looking after my 17-month-old on my own today...

What else does Lemsip contain? Paracetamol itself is fine during pregnancy but I'm not sure of the ingredients of Lemsip.

Good grief, yes. Paracetamol is usually considered safe in pregnancy.

Check the ingredients on the leaflet inside

You can take Paracetamol only Lemsip. Check the label, Lemsip usually has a decongestant such as pseudoephedrine/epinephrine in it. These cross the placenta and can increase your baby's heart rate, so you should avoid.

Paracetamol fine though.

Hope you feel better soon.

Just googled, it also contains phenylephrine and it is not known if that is safe during pregnancy and the recommendation is not to take it.

As long as it's only paracetamol. Just take some paracetamol with a hot drink if not.

It's the decongestant in it as well as paracetmol

your thread title is misleading

paracetmol is fine

Not sure about lemsip

Paracetamol is ok, Lemsip is not recommended though due to the other ingredients.

My sympathies.
No, you can't take Lemsip. See question 9. I'm afraid most cold meds are not for use during pregnancy. I'm going to get myself a neti pot to help with my sinus issues.

Thanks all - might just grin and bear it.

Thanks again for the advice, I'll think about taking just paracetamol...or not at all.
