WK30 baby size is a bit bigger

Hi I'm 30wk pg, for the 3rd child. Monday the last week's scan showed that the baby size is a bit bigger than the normal size at 29wks stage. I have the same Doctor who looked after my 2 previous Pregnancy. (now my DD is 9 & DS is 6) They are both average weight when they were born.

She didn't say anything wrong about it but I will have another scan next Monday to monitor the size of the baby. Otherwise the bayb is fine.

Does anyone know what is the implication of the size of the baby?? Is this because I'm eating too much or putting my weight too much? Should I be worried?

I had the same thing my last Pregnancy, I had to take diabetes test just for making sure.

I'd appreciate your help.

how much bigger is a "bit bigger" and how wasw baby measured?? MW told me throughout my pregnancy that DD2 was going to be "a monster" (!!), measured big the whole way through - but she was only 6lb 5oz. If measured via fundal height I'd take it all with a pinch of salt to be honest

It's hard to say really as scans for estimating bigger babies are notoriously innaccurate. They can be out by 20% so a predicted 10lb baby could be 8lb or a whopping 12lb!

As long as you are healthy and don't have diabetes you will make a baby the right size for you. If your doctor is not that worried I would follow their lead, I am sure they would say if they were concerned.

Thanks lal123 and green beanie, I suppose my Dr. would have said something if there was something really wrong. I'm not sure how she measured but I have to wait and see until next Monday's scan I guess. I don't have diabetes and pretty much healthy & feel lots of baby's movements so it must be a good sign! Thanks again girls xx
