Feeling breathless/dizzy - should I worry?

I'm nearly 28 weeks and I've been struggling a little bit for the past 2-3 weeks with intermittent breathlessness and a pounding heartbeat. I just put it down to having less lung-space and more blood to oxygenate. But then this morning, on my way back from dropping DS at school, I felt really rather rough - my vision darkened and went fuzzy at the edges like it does just before you faint. I had to sit down for a while before I went to work and it was a good hour before I felt normal again.

Does anyone else experience this? Do I need to see a midwife? Not got an appointment for another 3 weeks!

Ta.

Have you had your iron levels checked recently. I would get an appointment with your MW and get checked over.

i dont think the breathlessness is anything to worry about, i think that is just due to the lack of room now baby is getting bigger however...
im no expert but i experienced this when i was 24weeks pregnant, i got checked and it was high blood pressure it never settled and there was a danger of pre-eclampsia so from about 30weeks iv been on medication for it which has lowerd it.
Im not saying its definately it, but if you nearly fainted and had visual disturbances id call your hospital/labour ward, they may want to check you, if not id see a doctor or midwife asap.
If you get headaches alot to thats another sighn, i definately wouldnt leave it 3weeks as it could be potentially dangerous if youv got pre-eclampsia. Its probably wont be, though its better to be safe.
I wish you the best and hope my advice has helped. xx

In my last pregnancy my blood pressure went really low and that made me dizzy. I started getting the first signs of the same thing this time round in Tesco the other day (I'm 26 weeks). My vision wasn't ever affected though so I agree with the others that if in doubt give your MW a call.

Ok, thanks - I think I'll call the docs in the morning, it's probably nothing (and no headaches thank god) but I think I'd rather set my mind at rest!

hi, I had similar experience when pregnant, as earlier post, said I would get iron levels checked out, that's what it turned out to be for me, I was low in iron, it leaves you feeling light headed, dizzy etc because there isn't enough oxygen getting to your brain, like you I didn't have an app for a few weeks and so went around feeling pretty bad needlessly. I would see your mw and have blood test. once you're taking iron you'll prob start another thread about how to put up with it! Just eat kiwi with the skin and sprinkle linseed on your breakfast cereal, pears, plenty of water etc. Hope you're feeling better soon.
