Poor you! With my 1st pregnancy I felt sick right up until 16 weeks but I did start to feel better from then on. The sickness gradually faded away but the heartburn carried on the same. I'm nearly 6 weeks now with baby no2 and I'm just waiting for the MS to kick in! Uchh!

YanknCock · 13/02/2010 21:33

Um....at 16 weeks I got SPD so I at least had something new to complain about

I was being sick until 30 weeks. I wish I'd known that could happen, that would have been better than everyone saying 'oh it will get better at X weeks' and then X weeks would come and go and I'd still have my head in the bin/toilet/bushes.

Sorry, forgot to add, I do hope you feel better soon! I will personally volunteer to hit anyone that says 'have you tried ginger?' to you

Sorry I missed this thread yesterday evening because at 17.3 I was in bed following a busy afternoon of crying & puking. Nope, not getting any better for me and my mum was bad with both until 7 months.

I too wish people would fuck off with the "oh it'll all be better by x" and "have you tried ginger"? Wankers.

Fecking ginger pushers!

Just take it day by day.

Could feel better all of a sudden!

I'm 16+6 and still sick all the time, but keep telling myself that I might feel better tomorrow.

Oh dear, this doesn't bode well for me at only 8 weeks...

Hope you all feel better soon.

FWIW I have found something that takes the edge off the sickness. There is a CD you can get called Morningwell which is meant to ease MS, it's £20 but they do an iPod app for 59p. I have been using it and it seems to have taken a level of the sickness away. I don't feel 100% but I feel much better than I did before.

My trick? After Eights. I had box upon box at Christmas and have kept a steady supply every since. For some reason they seem to help - maybe it is an intensive sugar hit, and/or the peppermint.
Either way, flippin great excuse!
Just had a nice nap when DH took DS out to the park, and woke up to a nice big cuppa. That also helps...

skihorse, you are welcome to join the Anti-Ginger Avengers. We swoop down out of the sky and beat ginger pushers with our handbags (or throw up on their shoes).

I am far too nice to actually do this, but after about 15 weeks, when anyone asked 'have you tried ginger?' I wanted to say in my most withering/sarcastic voice 'Really? Ginger? NO ONE has EVER mentioned that to me before. Clearly you think I am such a fucking idiot that I've been sick for two months and I haven't tried the MOST touted morning sickness cure in existence. Do you think I'm that stupid? Do you? DO YOU????!!!'

But that would be quite rude/aggressive, and I'm sure most people are just trying to help (if a bit thoughtlessly)

YanknCock I'm seeing your point vividly. Why on fucking god's earth would anyone think that ginger may be "news" to me? Ginger you say eh? I wish someone had mentioned that before. Next they'll be telling people that smoking is bad for them. Tsk. Where will it end?

muddler I very much like the sound of After Eights being a proven cure... I have snarfled a pack between xmas and now I'll admit. Do you think it's worth me getting another box and giving it another go?

It'll be better in your second trimester. Fuck off - I am well IN to my second trimester and I'm still drooling, puking, crying, wailing and feeling sick. Do I LOOK better?

On the really bad days I end up apologising to my boyfriend for being so bloody lame. All I do is lie on the sofa and sleep. His family phoned the other night and were amazed I was in bed "already". Um yeh, for nearly 3 hours by then!

YanknCock I very much liked your profile btw - and wanted to say, isn't "That 70s Show" Wisconsin based? This is probably "ginger" to you.

Ah - a thread close to my own heart.

From 16+2 - 17+2 I was puke free and it was wonderful, wonderful, wonderful. I didn't worry about loss of symptoms or anything I just embraced it. Then on 17+2 puke fest all over again (now 17+5) . So Muddler - I can give you some hope of a 1 week respite but that is the best I can offer!

Now why is it that in this important time for my body I can only stomach junk food

Report
YanknCock · 14/02/2010 21:34

skihorse, yep, That 70s Show is based in Wisconsin, but I find people are more likely to have heard of the Fonz.

Bumperlicious, if it makes you feel any better, I went through a period of 3 weeks where I only ate Kraft Macaroni & Cheese, with the orange cheese powder. I thought I'd be giving birth to an oompa loompah. However, he is 5.5 months now and lovely and healthy despite me hardly touching a vegetable for 9 months.

In my 3rd pregnancy Ginger actually made me throw up,the only thing that helped was wearing Sea bands.
But my sickness went overnight,so i hope the same happens for you.

releasethehounds · 14/02/2010 21:48

Bumperlicious - I was the same as you. I normally love healthy food - lots of veg, fish etc, but during morning sickness all I could stomach was Pringles or chips!

The sickness really is the worst isn't it? I had it with both mine, the first for 5 months and the second for 6 months, 24 hours a day. No 'cure' worked for me, but that's not to say they don't help some women. But it's impossible to say when the sickness could go - it may be tomorrow, the next day or next month. I really feel for you all - sometimes you just have to bear it and remember, it won't last any longer than 9 months!

Ginger - yeah right. But the worst thing of all was when someone would say "it's all in the mind though isn't it?"

Sympathy to all the MS sufferers. I'm only getting the 'eat or sleep' symptom myself, but am finding being pregnant a fabulous excuse to eat a full packet of ginger biscuits a day. Dunked in my tea - yum! And none of these fancy expensive ones. I like the cheaper biccies.

BTW I am NOT one of the ginger pushers. Oh no. I am here to help relieve you of your unwanted ginger biscuits.

I say eat what your body tells you it needs.

Mmmn junk food. I've had more McDonalds in the last 4 months than I'd had in the previous 10 years. Did someone say Pringles?

Ginger makes me vom. I used to love it but by about 6 weeks I was heaving the minute it touched my tongue.

I am at least craving "normal" food again, e.g., proteins & vegetables rather than carby fatty crap.

releasethehounds All in the mind? I refer you to YanknCock's earlier post where she suggest such people be met with a swooping out of the sky & a beating with the handbag!

Pandora Sleeping is lovely... except between the hours of 2 and 6am. Any time other than that I'm good to go (to sleep).

YanknCock · 15/02/2010 10:01

skihorse, I only eat McDonalds when pregnant. For some reason their extra salty fries and a vanilla shake were the only thing that made me feel any better after a day of nausea and being sick!

at Pandora looking for cast off biscuits

releasethehounds, had anyone suggested it was in my mind, I'd probably be involved in a murder trial right about now!

EMERGENCY! EMERGENCY! I have run out of ginger biscuits. Who has the spare ones? I had to have Coco Pops for breakfast and they just aren't the same.

skihorse · 15/02/2010 11:18

Cocopops! You're living the dream! I don't have any biscuits but here, take this jar of crystallised ginger. I used to eat it like sweeties but now it's dead to me.

I like McDonalds cheeseburgers or a portion of 6 nuggets with sweet & sour sauce. I'm also a HUGE fan right now of a Burger King portion of cheese chilli lardball things. Nom nom!
