Pregnancy

Is this a urinary tract infection?

Hello! I'm 19 weeks pregnant and I've suddenly started needing a wee ALL the time! I thought initially it must just be a pregnancy thing, but I didn't get this last pregnancy and it seems a bit early as I'm not that big yet. The thing is, it doesn't burn when I wee or anything like that (sorry if TMI). I do have very very slight lower back ache. What do you think? Do I need to see a doctor, or phone midwife to check it out? Is there anything I can take over the counter? Thanks in advance!

I have just finished a course of antibiotics for a UTI which was picked up through urine sample at 16 weeks (followed by 4 more urine samples to make sure) although I didn't have any symptoms. The insistence of the GPs on the ongoing urine samples indicated to me that UTI in pregnancy can be v. serious so I agree about going to see doctor as soon as you can.

Agree with catbus - go to your GP.

I know it's not really the same because I was much further on than you but I had a dreadful UTI when I was 34 weeks pg with ds2. I did nothing about it and he was born prem (it aggravated my womb).
