baby back to back & pre eclampsia worries

Ok am 36+4 today and saw midwife. BP was very high compared to usual, protein in wee and swollen fingers...... This is the first time through this pregnancy i've had any problems like this so was sent with dh to hospital.

Knew baby was fine as has been moving heavily, (midwife said baby had moved up from being engaged now was free).

Hospital machines all said baby was fine, used a larger cuff for my BP which over an hour had gone down and no protein in my wee....... Machine picked up during 30 mins 6 braxton hicks contraction though.

She then says to me baby is back to back quite far (i dont know what that means...) and sends me home advising me to do some excercises etc.

Looking at my notes while walking to car i see she has put baby is 3/5 engaged now so i questioned this and she said he was engaged but bobbing about???

So am now home, worrying about every flshing light etc just incase, feeling pains but i dont know if its baby or contractions. I have quite a back ache and have been rolling about on the birthing ball to try to get him to move.

Does it sound ok that no more protein was detected? I have watery discharge (sorry tmi!) but have not lost plug etc yet. I was asked if I had by both idwifes? If braxton hicks increase does this mean labour could be on its way??

Thanks and sorry for rambling on!!

Happy new year everyone.

Hi hurry.
As you have several signs of pre-eclampsia they will keep a close eye on you from now till baby is born. The protein in your wee, high blood pressure and swollen fingers could all be part of that. So they are telling you to watch out for flashing lights, headaches etc. If you do get any of these, you must phone midwife straight away just to be on the safe side.
The back to back thing means that the baby is lying with it's back next to your back, which is not the best position for labour. But it's not the end of the world, that's why she has given you the exercises to try and make the baby turn round. That will make your labour easier.
The baby's head can be engaged and then "bob" in and out, that's not a problem, it will go down and stay down when it's ready.
I know you are worried, but try to get some rest. How about a warm bath to help with back ache and a sleep.
The good part is that you are nearly 37 weeks now, so if the worse happened and the pre-eclampsia got worse, you know baby is pretty much ready to be born so wouldn't be majorly premature.
Please try and relax!!
